Honest Reviews

Food Exploring ft SSAM - Holloway Road

Beyond BiBimBap: A K-BBQ Experience  Hidden in the underrated food hub of Holloway Road lies "SSAM" a Korean BBQ restaurant. This is a hole-in-the-wall small restaurant not yet discovered but viral tiktok food reviewers (but could be a strong contestant, so get there quick!) This review will be featuring the iconic Professor and Mother Houlihan Wiberg.  Credits to Sam Aberman for contributing to the outside photos (as I forgot!)  Ambience Located across from London Met University on the busy Holloway Road is the lively and bustling small restaurant SSAM. It has a very simple design when you walk in and lacks in the atmospheric music and lighting department, but this is when you know they have just focused on the food! We were met with the smiley face of our waitress and got menus and service almost immediately (even on a Friday night). Since it is Bring Your Own Booze the table next to us was having a lot of fun and created a community atmosphere in the restaurant. ...

Coffee Exploring ft. The Colombian Company - Bath

Cup of Colombia in the Heart of Bath

The Colombian Company has been essential for good coffee in Bath since 2018. We decided to visit their new location on the corner of Milsom Street, having replaced Kekolo Coffee (I am unsure what happened to Kekolo, as their website is also non-existent anymore; however, their location is still on Google Maps). This coffee shop is my all-time favorite, and I was excited to see what they had done with the new location.

Ambience

Dark, cozy, and comforting, this shop welcomed us with the warm smell of fresh coffee and the friendly faces of its staff, reflecting the vibe of the original shop on Abbey Gate Street. There was seating outside and upstairs, in addition to wooden benches to wait for a takeaway. Steep, winding staircases are always a must for bath coffee shops, and these were obviously included.

Prices

As with all good coffee shops in Bath, the price can be quite steep and this is no exception. However, it was nothing outrageous. They had bakes and cakes available as well as hot sandwiches. Discounts were not made available, however I did not ask.

Coffee - Important stuff

We ordered an Americano and Flat White. There were other cool options such as the Bombon, which I would recommend when visiting. It's a layer of condensed milk and a long shot of espresso, very very good and not too sweet.
The coffee was brought to us outside and was amazing and rich. Quite strong which is how I like it and full of flavour. Shoutout to the latte art, a good sign of good coffee.

Conclusion:
5/5 would recommend if you need a good quality local coffee in Bath and a central location!
